Synthesis

From Metagovernment - Government of, by, and for all the people

Jump to: navigation, search

Synthesis is a mechanism for resolving seemingly opposing views and proposals by finding a solution which is better and/or more encompassing than that of either side. See the Wikipedia article on synthesis.

Synthesis is the foundation of the fourth basic principle of the Metagovernment, and the project's preferred mechanism for consensus-building and problem resolution.

The primary focus of a community should be to make the best possible decisions for the entire community. No party should be vested in a particular solution disregarding all others. Since the only decisions that will be allowed to be made into law are those with the full support of the community, or at least with no opposition, conflict is not effective for creating solutions.

Synthesis helps in the development of laws. It can direct authors to write laws which all can agree are the right solution to a given problem.
