Modifying the Sidebar

It has been proposed on the list server that we modify the contents & organization of the sidebar.

I suggest that we keep a 'draft' version of the sidebar on this discussion page.

Here is a current draft (feel free to propose alternates below):

  • navigation
    • mainpage|mainpage
    • related_projects|Related Projects
    • active_projects|Active Projects
    • portal-url|portal
    • currentevents-url|currentevents
    • recentchanges-url|recentchanges
    • helppage|help

Note: each pair of links is written as: Name_of_page_in_wiki|display text

More detail can be found here

I took away the random page and the donations page:

** randompage-url|randompage
** sitesupport-url|sitesupport

And added instead the related projects and active projects--Pietro 15:45, 21 July 2009 (UTC)

Hi Pietro, should we also include a link to Mission_and_vision? --Jacki Buros 16:00, 21 July 2009 (UTC)

Yes, but isn't it changing right now? Shouldn't we wait until it is more stable? Or maybe we should add here the pages on which we are working, in which case we should add also the new version of the main page--Pietro 16:03, 21 July 2009 (UTC)

That's a good point. Perhaps instead have a link to Participate? We could also have a 'Resolutions' or 'Active discussions' box under the search with currently-active proposals/resolutions. --Jacki Buros 16:11, 21 July 2009 (UTC)

* Active discussions
** Startup/organization|Organization
** Scoring_system|Scoring_system
** Standardization|Standardization

Hmm, It looks like the link to startup organization does not work. There seem to be a problem with links in subfolders. Also now that I see how to make subpanel I think there are many things we could do--Pietro 17:28, 21 July 2009 (UTC)
