Página de participación en Español.

Following are ways you can participate in the Metagovernment project. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to participate.

Currently, this project is organized as an adhocracy, which means you are free to act in whatever way you think will help the project.

Discuss and plan

Join the list server

If you wish to contribute to the Metagovernment project (or just "listen in" on our conversations), please visit the list server signup page.

  • After joining, please introduce yourself to the list and provide a link to your user page on this wiki if you have it.
  • You are encouraged to familiarize yourself with the list server archive before jumping in with questions and suggestions. However, we know that analyzing the full archive requires a lot of time... reading the project's wiki should be enough with the aid of this map: a list of organized pages by a recommended order.
  • Do not forget to check the Community Portal often, there you will find what things are being done for the project.

Join us on IRC

We're on freenode channel #metagov. Connect from irc.lc, or your own IRC client. See also the archive of past chats.

Join us on Facebook

We're on Facebook too. "Like" us and post on our wall to let your friends learn about us.

Attend meetings

The Metagovernment project holds occasional meetings, which are open to anyone. See the meetings' page.

Propose and participate in votings

Some of the discussion uses some of the software produced by the open projects to find a position on which everybody agrees. In particular open questions are often asked on Vilfredo goes to Athens, were a specific page has been set up for questions that are of interest to this community. You can go there, propose, and vote on others proposals.

Contribute

Edit the wiki

Anyone may register on this wiki, and registered users may make edits to almost any page (changes to the home page should only be made if you have consensus). For information on editing, see Help:Editing.

  • You are encouraged to create a user page briefly introducing yourself. Once you are logged in, you can connect to your user page by clicking on your username in the links at the top-right of any page.
  • Discussions should be conducted in the context of other pages in this wiki; either through dispassionate explanation on an article page, or more subjective discussion on a Talk page.
  • See the map of the site for an ordered list of links to their relevant pages and the Community Portal for some current areas of concern.
  • Otherwise see Help:Contributing for some general ideas on how to keep the wiki vibrantly healthy!

Contribute code

The active projects are still in development and most could use the help of additional programmers. Please consider contributing to one of these open source projects. See also the related projects for even more places you can contribute to or get involved with.

Translate the wiki

The main language of this global project is English, the most spoken idiom up today in the Internet. Unfortunately this restricts the participation of non-English speakers. By translating part of the wiki, the Main Page for example, you can —at least— permit to those people, curious about this project, inform themselves (and others) about it.

Promote

Additionally, you are encouraged help promote the project and its philosophy by any of the following means:

Web

  • Post about collaborative governance — If you participate in a web forum or respond to blog posts, write a message about this website and/or about collaborative governance and web-based direct democracy.
  • Invite an organization directly — Write them a letter.

Literature

Everyone is encouraged to create literature or to download this promotional literature and distribute it in legal, ethical means, such as posting it on community bulletin boards or handing out cards in person.

If you create other literature, please contact Ed to have it posted to the promo directory.

Conferences

From time to time, this project is represented at governance and/or technology conferences, as listed on the conferences page. Active members of the startup committee are encouraged to attend such conferences and network and/or speak on behalf of the project and the general goals of collaborative governance.

Need help?

If for any reason you have trouble with some of these participation processes, check the help section.
